We are sad to announce that our friend and colleague Michelle Boath passed away on 21 April 2021. Michelle was an integral part of the Risk Solutions’ team, joining the company in 1999 after an earlier career as a process engineer in the nuclear industry. After gaining her MBA and making a short diversion into the work of investment banking, she returned to Risk Solutions in 2002, becoming finance director in 2017. We knew her both as a friend and business partner for 10 or, in some cases, 20 years.
Michelle’s contribution to Risk Solutions was enormous, bringing not only her first class analytical skills, but also a keen perception of the best way to approach an assignment. She was a leader in our evaluation work for a range of central government departments and agencies, often on high profile areas of national policy or investment.
Michelle’s professional approach was consistent with her personal commitment to fairness, equality and representation in UK society – a commitment that led her not only to contribute to national campaigns around issues she believed in passionately, but to a hands-on involvement in local government.
Michelle was a loving wife to David and mother to two sons of whom she was very proud. We will remember Michelle’s care for us as a team and as individuals, her dry wit, and her commitment to ‘getting things right’ (including the English language).

“Michelle lives in the middle of a field in Cheshire with two enormous and very daft rescued lurchers who will, occasionally, yield sofa space to other members of the family. In her spare time (?) she is active in local politics and national campaigning, as well as a reading group that seems to run on red wine.”
